For teachers
At Musicians’ Hearing Services we know that constantly standing in front of large ensembles, small groups and one-on-one teaching all adds up – particularly given the acoustics in which you are often called upon to work. Not only does the constant high level of sound contribute to exhaustion, but your risk of hearing damage increases as the years go by.
We can help you manage your noise exposure with both the correct equipment and the best strategies for harm minimisation, without affecting your ability to listen critically to (and communicate with) your students. Tools such as personal noise dose meters combined with comfortable, high-quality ear-plugs can make all the difference during a day of teaching.
We can also come in to your teaching studio and band rooms, measure your actual noise exposure levels and design a noise management plan for both you and your students. In the process we can help you to help your students to develop hearing conservation habits of their own that will give them the best chance of avoiding hearing damage over the course of their careers.
